According to reliable sources, Fox Searchlight is reportedly in negotiations to produce a film based on the book “I Slept with Joey Ramone (A Family Memoir).” The book, which is set to hit stores in December, was written by Ramone’s brother Mickey Leigh, who is himself a punk rocker, and Ramones biographer and author of punk insider history Please Kill Me Legs McNeil. While we have no doubt the book will be an entertaining and enlightening read, how the adaptation will turn out is slightly less rosy. First, the problem of casting: the Ramones were pretty distinct looking guys from Forest Hills, and though Williamsburg has its share of dirtbag-y knockoffs, the producers would really need to comb the streets and convince some genuine Queens natives to go full method to get it right. Though, knowing Hollywood, someone has already called Bradford Cox and called him “bro” several times. Problem two: the Lower East Side no longer exists, so they will have to green-screen CBGB back on Bowery and remove the 8,000 glass and steel condos that surround it. Maybe they could just say punk was born in the Whole Foods on Houston Street. Begin anticipating the film now and pick up the book on December 1st. If you’re in NYC, get it directly from Leigh and McNeil at the Barnes & Noble Tribeca on Warren Street, where they will be signing books and doing a Q&A session.

According to information from UK hip hop weekly NME, newly rethroned King of New York Jay-Z (said Jay-Zed in England), has again foregone working with his nuclear babe of a wife Beyonce on the expanded deluxe edition of his new #1 album The Blueprint 3 in favor of ivory pounding alternative it-girl Regina Spektor. We reached Jay for comment and he said, “Yeah, I’m over it. B is great, but I needed a change, and Regina’s music exposes me, naked, to my emotions.” Unfortunately, it was our friend Jay Kleinberg, but he is very reliable. The Jay-Z/Spektor song is simply a sample of Spektor’s “Chemo Limo” for a new track called “Crispy Benjamins.”

Honestly, Kanye West is an undeniable genius. Before anyone has even hashed out whether his VMA mic-snatch from Taylor Swift was a stunt or bona fide drunken meltdown, Kanye is already making new news with this video promo for he and Lady Gaga’s upcoming Fame Kills tour, which promises to be a subtle and classy affair from start to finish, no doubt. What is a little dubious is whether the two will actually alternate top-billing throughout the tour, as they have claimed they will, and who will have the first temper tantrum over haute couture. Over/under is Kanye by Saskatoon. Make your picks in the comments, and view the full tour dates after the jump.
