What I will miss the most about Vern Gosdin songs are the traditional country themes of Heartache, Drinking and Cheating that he nailed time after time. Vern's voice, the lyrics he wrote or chose to sing and the musical arrangements with them are timeless. A person could listen to "Is it Raining At Your House" 20 years from now and its effects on their mind and heart would be the same. Vern was truly a voice for the ages.

Vern Gosdin was The Voice! I never can understand The Country Music Hall of Fame- sometimes it should be called CM Hall of Shame for not have Vern in there when he was alive to enjoy it.

This guy stumped the radio waves with his voice......

Dearly miss the guy.

GREAT PIECE. GROWING UP IN A FAMILY OF COUNTRY MUSIC FANATICS (THOUGH I WAS NOT ONE OF THEM) I WAS FULLY AWARE OF VERN GOSDIN'S BRILLIANCE. HE STANDS WITH GEORGE JONES, JOHNNY CASH, HANK WILLIAMS AND SARA CARTER OF THE ORIGINAL CARTER FAMILY AS THE GREATEST VOICES IN ALL OF COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY.

DAVE, YOUR ARTICLE WAS TOPNOTCH AND MAKES ME PROUD TO BE PART OF THE TRIPWIRE FAMILY.

Excellent piece written by somebody who obviously not only has excellent taste but some knowledge in music history! Thanks Tripwire for not only leaning on 20 year old bloggers that have never bought a record like janky Pitchfork, who have more retractions than facts...I'd LOVE to see more like this!
