Next week (Sep 12), Brooklyn-based quartet The Favourite Sons will release their debut album, Down Beside Your Beauty, on VICE Records. The album is intensely emotional, as it pulls its deeply personal lyrical content from the challenging (to say the least) childhood of frontman Ken Griffin. However, this isn’t some whiney singer/songwriter record. Down Beside Your Beauty is a rocker in every sense of the word. The music is accessible yet challenging and rocks with a dynamic, unique maturity that sets it apart from other releases this year. It’s definitely one of our favorites.
So to celebrate it’s release, each day this week we will reveal an MP3 download to a song from the album AND a video of the band members dissecting and explaining that song. We’ll kick things off with the title track. Come back each day this week for a new track/video.
