I feel like I keep starting my interview intros with “one of my favorite albums of the year was…” and then segue into a discussion about the band at hand (I must admit, the first quarter of the year has produced a lot of great releases). So I’ll avoid that this time around, but it should be noted that I’ve listened to the new Black Lips record, 200 Million Thousand as much as any other record in 2009. That’s why it was a no-brainer to take some time out of our day for a quaint conversation by a dirty creek with the infamous foursome.

We caught up with the Lips the day after they performed an un-announced set with the GZA at SxSW, so not only were we all a bit subdued, it provided a nice starting point for a bevy of talking points.
