Midnight Masses – “Heaven”

Take equal parts Autry Rene Fulbright (Dragons of Zynth) and equal parts Jason Reece (And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead), add in Miyui Furtago of Rogers Sisters, Destiny Montague of Shock Cinema, Santogold studio guitarist (per the press release, although recently debunked by Eric himself) Eric Rodgers and a pinch of Giselle Reiber, and you’ve got the haunting folk-rock sound of Brooklyn’s Midnight Masses.

The band came together a little more than a year ago, after the death of Fulbright’s father took him back to his hometown of Atlanta, and then to Austin, Texas, to spend time with friends in Trail of Dead. Reece and Fulbright began writing together, creating what would be the sound and identity of Midnight Masses.

They’ll be heading out on tour with Trail of Dead later this month, bringing with them a self-produced 7″, Heaven. A digital release (with a bonus third song) will follow on March 10, and all vinyl purchases come with a redemption card to get the third track. An EP is in the works, currently slated for a summer release, and an LP is planned for the fall.

really great tune, enjoy the several textures & layers, very smooth. been a long time fan of reese and his trail of dead, being a long time austinite and all. about two years ago i had the pleasure of doing sound for the dragons of zynth in town. it was one of those nights that re-injected the excitement of working with bands all the time, as they brought it! turned me into a little school girl afterwards, giggling like, waiting for a cd. been rocking it ever since. great to see two minds get together like this. yeah.
