Last night we braved the cold to witness one of our own patrol the stages at Lit Lounge as part the weekly Precious Metal series. Zeena Koda helps us out “behind the scenes,” but there is nothing behind the scenes when she takes control of the microphone as the lead singer for the band Aphonia. Aside from being our resident metal expert, Zeena’s also a DJ on Sirius’ Liquid Metal show, but as she was quick to point out, Aphonia is not metal. We will ignorantly summarize their sound as the bastard child of Paramore and Opeth, but you can come to your own conclusions. Currently in the studio recording a new EP, you can preview their new material on their MySpace.
