Axl Rose ventures into the light?

Guns N’ Roses (the new, mosly theoretical version up ’til now) has signed on to perform live for the first time in the better part of a decade
at next year’s Rock in Rio for a Better World. The music festival will take place in Rio de Janeiro from Jan. 12-21, 2001. Unsubstantiated reports are that the
band has finallycompleted their long-awaited(?) album titled Chinese Democracy, and will be seeing the light of day to support its release early next year.
Other acts confirmed for the festival are Beck, R.E.M., Foo Fighters, Deftones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, Queens of the Stone Age, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow, Britney Spears,
and damn near anyone else you could possibly think of.

The band — which now consists of wacky recluse
Axl Rose, guitarists Paul Tobias and
Robin Finck (leaving Nine Inch Nails yet again for
Axl), bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardist Dizzy
Reed, and ex-Primus drummer Brain — is scheduled
to close the festival on its first weekend, Jan. 12-14.

We’re not sure Fela Kuti’s epic story should be told in any other format besides the musical, and we don’t even like musicals!  That said, it just so happens we’re giving away two tickets to see the show for zero dollars. All you need to do is leave us a haiku in the comments before [...]
