Adam Sandler to Boogie with Paul Thomas Anderson?

Let’s face it, director Paul Thomas Anderson walks the walk down a path which few directors dare step down. He brought us cinematic gold with Boogie Nights and Magnolia, and only casts the coolest actors on the planet. Some of his favorites include Phillip Seymour Hoffman, John C. Reilly, and now Adam Sandler? Reports are coming out of Hollywood claiming that Anderson has written his next project, which is to be a comedy specifically having Sandler in mind for the starring role. But can the man who brought us such an endearingly creative movie like Magnolia, pull off a comedy with a Hollywood A-List dude like Adam Sandler?

Anderson has been honing his comedic talents for the past year writing for Saturday Night Live(apparently under the radar). The tittle and story line of this soon to be enigmatic tale are still under wraps, but we do know that if anyone can bring the acting out of the actor, it’s Anderson.

According to the site Inside.com, the film will be loosely based on the hilarious SNL sketch known to all as “The Denise Show”. This is the classic sketch where Sandler plays a talk show host who has just been dumped by Denise, and alters the whole show into a mission to get her back. Anderson reportedly had not only Sandler, but English actress Emily Watson in mind as well, to fill the Denise roll. New Line Cinema and Revolution Studios are in negotiations to co-finance
and co-produce the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
