Stone Temple Pilots Plan Double Album

This January a vintage Spanish house off the California coast will be the back drop for Stone Temple Pilots to record their new double album. Lead singer Scott Weiland says the double album will mean double the debauchery. “We found a beautiful house in Malibu,” the singer told VH1 Radio recently. “It’s an old Spanish house. We are going to live there, sleep naked there, have massive band orgies there, write the best music we have ever written and record a double album.” During their downtime on the road STP had the chance to record some new tracks and put them in the can, making the recording process that much easier.

The Pilots will team up with the only producer to ever touch their knobs, Brendan O’Brien. The untitled double album, due in the spring or early summer, will be the fifth album that O’Brien has produced for STP: Core (1992), Purple (1994), Tiny Music … Songs From the Vatican Gift Shop (1996) and No. 4 (1999). Stone Temple Pilots once considered making No. 4 a double album, but Weiland got busted, slammed in jail, and later released.

Weiland recently ripped through an amazing version of “Break On Through” with the three remaining Doors, during the VH-1 Storytellers show.
