Breeders Make a Splash Last Night in LA

Those trouble-riddled Deal sisters, Kim and Kelley respectively, got on stage and played together for the first time in six years as The Breeders reunited for a surprise show at Highland Park’s Mr T’s Bowl last night. Word had leaked out over the internet and through word-of-mouth which ensured that the place was packed for their 40-minute set revisiting songs from the band’s “Last Splash” album, as well as a few tunes from Kim Deal’s post-Breeder band, The Amps. They also debuted two new songs sung by Kelley, “Too Alive” and “Fire in the Maid.”

The new lineup also includes Jose Medeles on drums, Mando Lopez on bass, and Richard Presley on guitar. Both Lopez and Presley were previously in the punk group Fear. The band will go into the studio with Steve Albini in early in 2001 to record material for a third Breeders release next year.
