Lineup Set for Noise Pop Festival

San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival (www.noisepop.com) turns nine this year, and they’re celebrating with a stellar lineup of indie favs. The six-day festival, kicking off Feb. 27th, will feature sets by Superchunk, Girls Against Boys, Grandaddy, Pedro the Lion, Creeper Lagoon, Minus 5, and ex-Archers of Loaf frontman Eric Bachman’s new band, Crooked Fingers. That’s the good newsÖthe bad news is, for the first time, the festival will have different shows going on simultaneously, so people will have to make some serious decisions.

Festival founder, Kevin Arnold, explains, “In the past, we’ve been somewhat reluctant to do this, but as the festival has grown in size and styles, it’s made more and more sense.”
Arnold co-founded the festival in 1993, and over the years, the annual event has included performances from indie rock heroes as Modest Mouse, the Flaming Lips, Frank Black and the Catholics, Guided by Voices, the Magnetic Fields, and Bob Mould. The Noise Pop Film Festival and Noise Pop Educational series will again be a part of the proceedings, and Noise Pop Chicago, which debuted last year, is setting up for a second run ó organizers say the spin-off event will run May 9-13.
