A well rested Promise Ring Hit the Road Again

Milwaukee’s indie popstersThe Promise Ring, plan on hitting the road in February, in hopes of shaking this “show stopper” syndrome that they unfortunately have acquired. Last May singer Davey vonBohlen underwent successful brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. Since then, Davey has had reoccurring episodes which led to the band’s departure as opening act for Bad Religion last year, as well as a handful of dates which will be made up for on this mini-tour. The Promise Ring is still riding the success of their latest pop gem Very Emergency.

In December the band played a hometown gig with Alkaline Trio and Dismemberment Plan, releasing a limited holiday CD A Very Milky Christmas. Some peeps who saw the show told the Tripwire that Davey looked extremely pale and “out of it.” Hopefully Davey is well rested, as the first show comes quickly on February 8 in Pomona, California.

Here are Promise Ring tour dates:

Feb. 8: Pomona, Calif. (Glass House)

Feb. 9: Los Angeles (El Rey Theatre)

Feb. 10: Santa Cruz, Calif. (The Rio)

Feb. 11: San Francisco (Great American Music Hall)

Feb. 15: Oshkosh, Wisc. (Union Square)

Feb. 16: St. Louis, Mo. (Gargoyle)

Feb. 17: Champaign, Ill. (Hi Dive, with Centromatic)

Feb. 18 Chicago (Empty Bottle, with Centromatic)
