Monday Express – Powerman 5000, Badly Drawn Boy, Roxy Music, Garbage

Metal blast masters Powerman 5000 have entered the studio to follow up their 1999 lightning bolt, Tonight the Stars Revolt! According to bassist Dorian 27, the soon to be titled album will be released in June under the production guidance of Terry Date. PM5K will give fans a look see into their mysterious world on February 27, when the Boston psychos realease their home video and DVD, “Backstage and Beyond the Infinite”. The 10 year retrospective features backstage and onstage footage, music videos, television interviews and material submitted by fans. Lead singer Spider 1 is keeping busy, launching his own label Megatronic Records, through DreamWorks.

In a truly bizarre incident, UK Mercury Music winner Damon Gough AKA Badly Drawn Boy had his trademark hat stolen as he sat at a cafe in Manchester. The twist is that the hat was due to be auctioned off for charity today, to raise money for aid to Kosovo.

Glam trailblazers Roxy Music are to reform for a world tour this summer. Original members Bryan Ferry, Andy MacKay and Phil Manzanera are on-board, but the biggest name of the bunch, now-producer Brian Eno will not be joining the band in their second coming. Tour dates have not yet been released and there is no word whether any new music will accompany the reformation, but that won’t stop thousands of folks from getting out their feather boas and partying like it’s 1973.

Madison, Wisconsin’s own Garbage are finishing up their third album and have enlisted
the help of a new drummer to help wrap up the project. The band brought in Matt
Chamberlain, who has done stick work with Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, and Macy
Gray, to lay down the drum track on at least one song. Garbage drummer Butch
Vig is still with the band and welcomed the change of pace.
