Tuesday Express – Built To Spill, Smash Mouth

Hurray for college radio station programmers everywhere, Built To Spill are recording a new record. The three piece from the plush potato fields of Boise, will release the follow up to their last studio album, Keep It Like A Secret, this fall. The band released a live album titled Live, last year, collecting performances from their 1999 U.S. tour, which included a dazzling cover of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer.” Phil Ek, producer of Live and Keep It Like A Secret will produce the yet to be titled album that Warner Bros. will release. Singer/guitarist Doug Martsch, drummer
Scott Plouf, and bassist Brett Nelson were awarded an ASCAP “College Radio Award” last May.

Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell and his girlfriend Michele LaRoche gave birth to their own “all star” Friday January 30, 2001. Presley Scott Harwell weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and the whole family is doing fine. LaRouche will most likely take care of young Presley, while poppa Steve slaves in the studio, following up their three-times-platinum album, Astro Lounge.
