Beck will play himself, nine years in the future, in the upcoming film Southlander. “Loser” and “Jack-Ass” video director Steve Hanft, a long time friend and collaborator with Beck directed the film. The movie is about a man on a quest to find a synthesizer for his band. According to a Beck spokesperson from Interscope, “future Beck” will meet up with Beth Orton, Hank Williams III and Elliott Smith. Souhtlander is being sliced and diced in the editing room, and Hanft is looking for a distributor for the film.
