Wednesday Express – Breeders Cancel Benefit, Stabbing Westward

In a strange turn of events The Breeders were forced to cancel their benefit show in Los Angeles on February 25. The band feared that their benefit for Children of the Night would be shut down by the LA Fire Department for exceeding the 350 capacity, once they received phone calls from fans and friends from NYC who intended on making the journey. Other acts were scheduled to perform including former Pixie David Lovering, and his new band David Lovering’s Science Experiment, the Bellrays, and the Trailer Park Casanovas (featuring El Vez). The benefit will go on without the Breeders (with the rest of the lineup) and The Breeders intend to reschedule a show of their own at the club, possibly that same week.

Stabbing Westward have emerged from their three year hibernation and will release a new self titled album May 22 on Koch Records. The Chicago band came out of the gates with UngodWither Blister Burn and Feel, and Darkest Days, which made less than a peep on the Alternative charts. They have since added touring guitarist Derrek Hawkins and feel his energy adds well to the mix, and may take them further away from their patented electro based sound. Ed Bueller (Suede, Pulp) produced the album and the first single îSo Far Awayî hits radio April 2. The band will release tour dates soon, and plan on attacking the road in late April.
