Red Hot Chili Peppers will Perform Two Charity Shows

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are super cool dudes and their actions prove it. The Peppers will perform at two upcoming benefit shows in March, one in their native Los Angeles and the other in New York. March 1 the Hollywood Palladium will host “A Night for Gloria,” where the Peppers will be joined by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, along with Thelonious Monster, and a DJ set by Perry Ferrell. All proceeds will be donated to Gloria Scott who has “helped thousands of souls in Los Angeles” through various recovery programs, as well as helping Pepper Anthony Kiedis through his own addiction recovery. Scott is seriously ill. Tickets for “A Night for Gloria” go on sale this Saturday.

The Chili Peppers second charity offering will be at New York’s Irving Plaza on March 14, raising money for the Robin Hood Foundation. Late Night host Conan O’Brien and Gwyneth Paltrow will emcee the event. The Robin Hood Foundation seeks to prevent poverty by funneling money into many different local organizations, including the Children’s Defense Fund and the Harlem Children’s Zone. Since 1998, the Robin Hood Foundation has given over $90 million to more than 100 New York-based charities.
