Spiritualized Reveal New Album Details

Spiritualized have been missing from the music scene for a few years, but finally, details are filtering in about a new album they’ll be releasing later this year. The record would be their first studio album since 1997’s Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space . Keyboardist Thighpaulsandra describes the new, as-yet-untitled record as “fuller” and “more complex” than its predecessor, and he also explains the delay -”Jason Pierce [bandleader] works at his own pace, and there’s nothing you can do to speed him up.”

It couldn’t have helped that Pierce also fired a bunch of band members a while back, and have only recently hired replacements. But all’s well now, with the forthcoming record successfully in the can. The album was produced by Pierce at George Martin’s Air Studios in London and, according to Thighpaulsandra, sounds a li’l bit country and a li’l bit rock ‘n’ roll: “If you can imagine a bit of country, a bit of Elvis, a bit of Kraut Rock and a few other things, all mixed together, you’ll be close to understanding what the new Spiritualized record will sound like.”
