Live – Jimmy Eat World/Creeper Lagoon Rock Noise Pop

Pairings like this are what make festivals great. The 9th annual Noise Pop festival in San
Francisco last night featured Phoenix’s Jimmy Eat World and hometown heroes
Creeper Lagoon rocking a hyper sold-out Great American Music Hall. Creeper
hit the stage to a packed house raring to hear some new material and hear it they did. The band
played an hour set comprised mostly of tracks from their new album (out next month) Take
Back The Universe & Give Me Yesterday
and sprinkled in hits from prior releases. The set
was punctuated by new single “Wrecking Ball,” which has all the power live as it does
recorded.

At about 11:45 emo emissaries Jimmy Eat World came on, unfortunately, to a less than
capacity but an I-gotta-go-to-work-in-the-morning kind of crowd. Didn’t stop the boys from
bringing the rock big time, pounding out tracks from their pending release Bleed
American. The band is currently label-less, but judging by the number of A&R weasels
and label reps in the house, that won’t remain the case for long, especially based on
the strength of the new material.
