Wednesday Express – Blur & Fatboy, Bridget Jones OST, Metallica in Playboy

Blur frontman Damon Albarn has announced that his band will collaborate with
Fatboy Slim. Albarn said his band will release a couple of singles this year, but
that he didn’t want to record an album just yet. No word as to what function the Fatboy
will serve.

Stars galore are featured on the upcoming Bridget Jones’ Diary soundtrack. The movie
stars Hugh Grant and Renee Zellweger and will hit screens April 13, while the
album will feature offerings from Grammy winner Shelby Lynne, multiple Brit award
winner Robbie Williams, as well as Lucinda Williams, Tracy Bonham and
ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Williams has covered Frank Sinatra’s
“Have You Met Miss Jones” and Halliwell redoes “It’s Raining Men” by The
Weather Girls. The soundtrack on Island Records will hit shelves a week prior on April 3.

It’s getting ugly in Metallica land. The band has provided an interview for the new issue
of Playboy magazine, and their tongue are sharp as ever. The band snipe at each other,
with ex-bassist Jason Newsted and lead singer/guitarist James Hetfield getting
into it over Newsted’s side project, with Hetfield and head Napster hater
Lars Ulrich go head to head over Ulrich’s drumming prowess, or lack thereof,
while Ulrich discusses Hetfield’s alleged homophobia and the causes behind
that. Gotta get me this issue…
