Joey Ramone Loses Fight Against Cancer

In a sad turn of events, punk rock legend, Joey Ramone, succumbed yesterday (4/15) to lymphatic cancer, which he had battled for some time now. He was only 49.
He fronted the Ramones, which included his brothers Johnny, Tommy, and DeeDee, a band who were pioneers in the punk rock movement of the mid-’70’s. They (along with Patti Smith, New York Dolls, and Television) helped wake up the tired NYC music scene with just a few chords, some simple street-wise lyrics, and infectious melodies. They’ve influenced countless bands and generations of people. Ramone will be sorely missed.
