Everyone’s favorite feel-good free-luvin’ Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist, Flea, has pulled out of
the Jane’s Addiction reunion tour to concentrate on the follow-up to the Peppers’
1999 album, Californication. Could this possibly mean the true reunion of all four original members Jane’s Addiction, including bassist Eric Avery?!? Well, no. The bastard still declines to participate. Flea was scheduled to perform later this month with Jane’s founding members
Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, and Stephen Perkins at a pair of gigs, including
the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival. Bassist Martyn Le Noble, from Perry Farrell’s other former group, Porno For
Pyros, will fill the role.
The reunited band is planning an extensive tour in
July with other bands and DJs that is being called the Jubilee–a nod to frontman
Farrell’s recent interest in the humanitarian concept of the same name (a.k.a. Bono of U2’s pet project) in which
all debts should be forgiven and all slaves should be freed to start the cycle of
rebirth. A new Jane’s Addiction album remains a possibility as well.
