Punk godfather Joey Ramone was taken from us too soon, but his family is still planning a big party for May 19thóthe date that would have marked his 50th birthday. His mother, Charlotte Lesher, and his brother, Mickey Leigh, will hold the party at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom with musical guests that have yet to be announced. Lesher said, “In the weeks prior to his death, we often talked about his upcoming 50th birthday, and Mickey and I promisedÖwe would throw the best and biggest birthday bash he ever had. He is going to have that party. It will be a celebration of his life and music and it’s going to be a gas.”
The show is called “Life’s A GasóJoey Ramone’s Birthday Bash.” The tickets go on sale
