Rufus Wainwright Getting Buzz At Cannes Film Fest

The Canadian-born-relocated-to-NYC-hipster-singer-songwriter, Rufus Wainwright, is getting major buzz at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for his contribution to the soundtrack to the Baz Luhrmann directed film, Moulin Rouge, which stars Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. Wainwright’s version of “Complainte de la Butte,” written by Jean Renoir for a 1950s film, is being hailed by Cannes critics as the best thing on the already very good soundtrackówhich also features songs from David Bowie, Beck, and Bono. Wainwright also has his sophomore album, Poses, set for release next month on Dreamworks.
