Carl Craig Sues Detroit Electronic Music Festival

Techno legend, Carl Craig, is suing the organizers for Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival for breach of contract and defamation of character after being asked to step down as the event’s creative director on Thursday. He alleges that the claims the organizers made leading to his being fired, mainly that he missed several deadlines, are complete rubbish. Festival spokespeople say Craig failed to deliver contracts to the city’s Recreation Department in time to process deposits paid to artists to guarantee their appearances. Craig has yet to make a public statement regarding the lawsuit. Acts scheduled to appear at the festival include Derrick May, Atkins, LTJ Bukem, Tortoise and De la Soul.
