Chris Cornell Will Front Rage Against The Machine

After months of jamming with the band (and much speculation in the media about who would be replacing Zack de la Rocha as the mouthpiece of Rage Against the Machine), it has finally been confirmed that ex-Soundgarden-er Chris Cornell will take over the coveted frontman spot (sorry B-Real, you gave it your best shot). The only catch being the band will not be called Rage Against the Machine anymore. The new name has yet to be decided. We’re also all gonna see if the labels can play nice since Cornell is on Interscope and the rest of Rage is on Epic (the answer is yes, they can play nice, ’cause this is gonna makes tons o’ money).

According to both sides of management, the new group has written up to 20 songs together already, and will be in the studio next week to record their debut album with legendary rock producer Rick Rubin.
