Orbital Snag David Gray For New Album

U.K. techno duo, Orbital, are readying a new record, entitled The Altogether to be released Sept. 4. Theyíre joined on the record by singer-songwriter and close-relation, David Gray who contributed vocals on the song ìIlluminate.î Gray is Orbital member Phil Hartnollís brother-in-law. Hartnoll explains, ìWe [Phil and Paul Hartnoll] wrote that track and always felt it needed a male vocal. He just popped round one day and it was like, really casual and he came up with that and it’s like ‘Wow, that’s good. That works.’ Obviously, he’s David Gray now, but when we did it, it was like a year and a half ago, so it was very casual good fun really.” Orbital will follow up the release with a five-week North American headlining tour starting Sept. 1.
