Behind every childish, fighting Gallagher brother is…his wife. So goes the story coming from Noel Gallagher, who claimed yesterday that he and Liam were driven apart by their battling wives. He says that his life became a “vicious nightmare” after he married Meg Mathews and Liam wed Patsy Kensit. Noel claims the wives hated each other and the brothers hated each other’s wives – “Meg hated Liam and I was always trying to please her but I didn’t get on with him myself anyway. Meg and Patsy didn’t get on.” Noel split with Meg last September and has now stated that Oasis will not play “Wonderwall,” his love song to her, ever again.
Noel spoke warmly (for the time being, anyway) of his new relationship with PR girl Sara MacDonald and his brother’s relationship with ex-All Saint Nicole Appleton. “We go out in a foursome for Sunday lunch. We have the funniest, funniest times, which we never did before.”
