Blur Bassist Tries Out For Mannequin 3

Blur bassist Alex James spent the afternoon yesterday (June 21) pretending to be a window mannequin in the Tower Records store in London’s Piccadilly Circus, in order to promote the current issue of The Idler ñ a lifestyle mag ñ to which he contributes. He didn’t, however, do a great job of it though, moving around and reading the mag in the window like a regular person…mannequins, in general, are usually fairly still. But enough with the nitpicking ñ James spent over an hour in the window sitting in a chair and reading the Idler, much to the bemusement of passers-by, although according to employees, not many people actually noticed him there, or knew who he was. Still, though, James said it was an experience he enjoyed for the most part ñ “It’s nice and warm in the window. There’s a bit of a piss smell when you put the fan on, but that’s just Piccadilly Circus for you, isn’t it?”
