One of the coolest bands of 2001, Rival Schools are offering tracks from their debut album United By Fate, on their ultra cool web site rivalschoolsunite.com. Rival Schools, which features Walter Schreifels the former lifeline of the post hardcore outfit Quicksand (along with members of CIV and Iceburn), will relinquish the United By Fate album on August 28 via Island. ìUndercovers Onî is the featured track this week and Walter had this to say about it. ìThe Producer said we needed a ballad, which made me feel like I was in Def Leppard, but I love a challenge so I thought about something ballady and out came this song… Ironically to how it was conceived, this is my favorite song on the record, the lyrics have deep personal meaning and they came out very quick and easily as my best lyrics usually do. Undercovers is about lossî.
