Ride, the shoegaze superheroes and men-about-Oxford-before-Radiohead, have
announced plans for a grandiose 3CD boxset, out in the UK in September. The boxset will consist of a
greatest hits CD, entitled OX4, a rarities disc, Firing Blanks – Unreleased Ride recordings
1988-1995, and the aptly titled Ride Live – Reading Festival 1992. The boxset is due out
September 10 on Ignition Records, who bought the rights to the band’s back catalog after their previous
label, Creation, folded.
The band, who featured Mark Gardner, now of Animalhouse and Andy Bell of
Oasis, will also re-release their entire catalog, all 4 albums, with bonus tracks this fall. The bonus
tracks have been culled from the b-sides from the singles off the albums. In case you missed Ride the first
time around, here’s your chance to catch up on one of the most overlooked (in the US, at least) bands of the
1990s.
