Censorship At Radio Rearing Its Ugly Head Again

Oregon radio station, KBOO-FM, has been fined $7,000 by the FCC for playing a song with “unmistakable patently offensive sexual references,” according to the official Ninja Tune Records website (www.ninjatune.net ) ñ displaying irrefutable ignorance (yet again) of the fact that every single song on the radio has said sexual references. The offending song is “Your Revolution,” by DJ Vadim featuring spoken word poetry by Sarah Jones (off 1999’s USSR: Life from the Other Side). The problem is with the lyrics, “Your revolution will not happen between these thighs.” Ninja Tune is encouraging fans and listeners to contact FCC Chairman Michael Powell at mpowell@fcc.gov or 1-888-225-5322 to give him a piece o’ your mind. KBOO-FM stands by their decision to play the track, and has 30 days to respond to the formal complaint.
