Hi My Name Is Ben — Ben Lee Live At The Knitting Factory 07.09.01

When will the world open it’s eyes to the lyrical mastery of Australia’s own
Ben Lee? In times when young girls swoon over the likes of folk/pop
wannabes Evan and Jaron, it’s unfathomable why Lee — a veritable Bob Dylan
for Gen X, Y, and Z — isn’t yet a household name. Lee pulled out all the
stops in his return to the Knitting Factory on Monday — playing classics
from his three solo albums and even digging into the Noise Addict chest.
Lee first graced the stage of The Knit ting Factory at the tender age of 16,
when his girlfriend’s (Claire Danes) tragically cancelled series, My So Called Life, was
still in re-runs on MTV. Singing of junior high crushes, pop queens, fading
80’s sitcom stars, and the end of the world — backed by a bass player, a
killer drum machine, and a pair of air drummers — Ben Lee has, once again,
left of us with something to remember him by.
