New Order Resurrect Old Selves

The past few years have seen New Order finally resurrect songs at gigs from their previous (and much-heralded) incarnation, Joy Division – which famously became New Order after mastermind and singer, Ian Curtis, committed suicide in 1979. So real fans should be soiling themselves to know that the band is doing a new version of Joy Division’s “Atmosphere” and including it as a b-side of the new single, “Crystal.” The track is a live version performed at the Reading Festival in 1998. For nearly two decades, they’d refused to perform any Joy Division material. New Order’s upcoming release, Get Ready,is out next month.
