Tuesday Express: ’80s Kingpins in release news: The Cure, Morrissey

Everyone’s favorite goth-influenced pop act and South Park Streisand destroyer Robert
Smith and his band of palm tree coiffed boys, The Cure, are headed back into the studio.
Evidently, last year’s “farewell tour” was not a complete farewell, as The Cure plan to record two new songs to
be placed on their upcoming third greatest hits album, following such classics as Standing on the
Beach
and Galore. The album, on Elektra Records, is expected to hit shelves in time for the
Christmas rush.

In further, re-release news, saddest man in the world Morrissey is due to release a second box set
of singles in early fall. The singles collection, entitled Singles Box – Volume 2, follows last year’s
Volume 1 which included all of his UK CD singles released in 1988-1991. The new box set takes
off where the last one left off and runs through 1995. The 9 CD set will include singles and all their initial
b-sides. Featured singles include “My Love Life,” “We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful,”
“You’re The One For Me Fatty” “Certain People I Know,” “The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get,”
amongst others. The box set is expected out in the UK in September.
