Strokes Get Wrists Slapped, Censored

Those crazy kids, the Strokes are running into some trouble with a lil’ someone we like to call The MAN over the cover of their soon-to-be-released debut album Is This It.The album’s slightly naughty sleeveóshowing a naked woman touching her own ass while wearing a black leather glove (tales of ribaldry!)óhas run into trouble with the UK’s huge retailer, Woolworth’s. A spokesperson for Woolworth’s commented that because they are a company that promotes family values, it could be embarrassing if a child saw the Strokes record while looking for something a little more tameó”we don’t want to upset any parents.” They are currently in talks with the label to see if the cover can be changed, but as of now, will still stock it.
