Moby Gets The A-OK From New Order

Moby was on the receiving end of quite the proverbial thumbs up yesterday when New Order bassist Peter Hook said watching him perform Joy Division’s “New Dawn Fades” at the Area:One festival in L.A. reminded him of the late great Ian Curtis. Moby had invited members of New Order, Smashing Pumpkins, and Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform a live version of the song during the festival yesterday. Hook revealed to NME.com that he thought Moby’s version was “astonishing,” and furthermore ó “We heard him do it, and he was doing it with such emotion, even in the dressing room…it kind of reminded me of Ian…really going for it. It was a strange feeling.” Joy Division became New Order after Curtis’ unfortunate suicide over two decades ago.
