Zeppelin To Sell Cadillacs

Legendary rock band Led Zeppelin has licensed its classic “Rock and Roll” for use on Cadillacís upcoming TV add campaign. The use of the song, taken from the groupís landmark 1971 album, IV, marks the first time that Zep has made such an arrangement. For those of you who are heartbroken over this news, at least feel comforted in the fact that band has reportedly received a “ridiculous amount” of money for the song. Well, money may not be able to buy happiness, but with a “ridiculous amount,” it can buy the rights to one of the greatest songs in rock history ñ thatís pretty close.

Zeppelin, in some rare instances, has allowed its music to be licensed for films, including 1982ís Fast Times At Ridgemont High (”Kashmir”), 1998ís Small Soldiers (”Communication Breakdown”) and 2000ís Almost Famous (”Thatís the Way,” “Misty Mountain Hop,” “Bron-Yr-Aur,” “The Rain Song,” and “Tangerine”). Page and Plant also offer a version of the traditional song, “Gallows Pole,” on the soundtrack to Bandits, due in stores today from Columbia Records.
