Garbage Is Contaminated With Hepatitis A

Butch Vig, drummer for the Shirley Manson fronted, Garbage, will have to be placed on injured reserve for the bandís upcoming European tour. The time keeper extrodinaire was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis A, the mildest form of Hepatitis, and will be forced to ride the pine while drummer Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple) will take over his starting position. Garbage will be on tour in Europe through a Nov. 14 date at Londonís Astoria, followed by a post-Christmas jaunt to Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

“[Vig] is on the road to a complete recovery, getting the rest he needs, and would like to thank you all for your well wishes,” reads a message on the band’s official Web site. “However, under doctor’s orders, he will be unable to play with the band during their upcoming European shows. The band do not want to disappoint their fans and after much deliberation decided not to cancel ÖWe look forward to seeing you all!”

Hepatitis A is an inflammation of the liver caused by the Hepatitis A virus and is transmitted through contact with contaminated food, water, or a person ill with the virus.
