Sigur Ros Win Virgin Megastore Shortlist Prize…WhateV The Hell That Is

In an attempt to take over the world and sell more record, the gigantic record store chain, Virgin Megastore, have created their own awards. Sigur Ros won the Virgin Megastore Shortlist Prize for Artistic Achievement in Music. We don’t know what that means either, but we did manage to plug the store didn’t we? The cool thing about this whole scam is that a panel consisting of Beck, Aimee Mann and Macy Gray hand picked the Icelandic outfit as the winner of the award, which is ripped off and molded after U.K.’s Mercury Music Prize. The ceremony took place at the Knitting Factory in LA on November 19. Along with the recognition, Sigur Ros picked up a cash prize of $10,000 and Virgin Megastore will also donate an additional $10,000 in Sigur Ros’ name to a September 11th relief fund.
