Sparta Signs to Dreamworks, Ready Debut Album

Dreamworks Records will be the new home of the El Paso quartet Sparta, who recently inked a deal with the entertainment powerhouse. The band will enter Armoury Studios in Vancouver on January 14 to begin work on their debut album. If all goes well, the recording process will take about six weeks and the finished product will hit your local record store sometime this summer, according to the bandís website. For fans who canít possibly wait that long to get their hands on something tangible from the group, Sparta is planning to release a special 4 song EP entitled Austere that will be available at shows and some record stores in early spring. Sparta will begin a series of tour dates in 2002 kicking it all off with an appearance at SXSW. Details of the tour are currently being planned.
