The guitarist whose departure from Limp Bizkit helped to create the “weíll audition amateurs for a spot in our band and reap the promotional benefits” fad that has taken off recently, has spoken out about his flight from one of the worldís biggest rock bands. According to MTV, Wes Borland left the band because his Bizkit mates gradually became more like work friends than real friends and we all know that rock stars donít want anything to do with work. Borland said that his heart wasnít in it anymore and that if he stayed with the band, it would have just been for the money. “Bells start going off, like, ‘This is what it feels like to sell out,’” Borland said. “I’m enjoying all the perks of [Limp Bizkit], but I feel my heart is going black, because this is not what I’m called to do. The little voice inside my head says, ‘You should be somewhere else. You should take the risk. You should let it go.’” He continued, “I think they’ll be better now that I’m gone. I think I held them back from being their best, because I was so against all the things that were going on.” Borland has now shifted focus to his new project, Eat The Day. Together with his brother, bassist / guitarist Scott Borland, Isabella and sound engineer Kyle Weeks, Wes hopes to make music again because he remembers when it used to be fun. The brothers Borland have been taking voice lessons for the past four months and will both write and sing material for Eat The Day, purposely avoiding having an official frontman. The duo has written 18 tracks since October and will present a demo to Interscope Records later this month.
