2/3 Of Blink 182 Build Boxcar Racer, Will Hit The Street This May

Blink 182 members Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker have some how managed to find the time to write and record an entire album of new material under the name Boxcar Racer. The Jerry Finn (Green Day, Sum 41) produced album, which is untitled but said to be more experimental than Blink, is due out in mid-May via MCA. An old friend of DeLong, rhythm guitarist Dave Kennedy, formerly of the San Diego straight-edge troop Over My Dead Body, is the third official member of Boxcar Racer. As you may have noticed, Boxcar is missing an essential piece of the puzzle, a bass player. DeLonge took up bass duties during recording but the band is currently recruiting a full-time bassist for a short tour that is being planed following the recordís release. According to rolling stone, Blink bassist / vocalist Mark Hoppus sings on one track of the new album, but no word on whether he will pick up his four-string for Boxcar Racer.
