Rocket Man Gives Love To Zero 7

In an interview with conveniently titled Interview Magazine, Elton John praised English newcomers Zero 7 for their debut LP Simple Things, calling it “fresh and original.” Rumors have also arisen that the legend has purchased hundreds of copies of the record to distribute to his friends. These rumors are no doubt linked to Johnís well-publicized admiration of another downtempo troop, Groove Armada, whose album Vertigo was at the top of the Rocket Manís shopping list last year. In other Zero 7 news, the duo was nominated in the Best Newcomer category at this yearís Brit awards. Look for them to blow up on commercial specialty radio this month. Also, Look for Elton John on Sunday (February 10) when he performs “Philadelphia Freedom,” “This Train Donít Stop There Anymore,” and “Iím Still Standing” at this yearís NBA All Star game.
