Jerry Cantrell Finds A New Home, Takes A Degradation Trip

The creative mastermind behind legendary rock band Alice In Chains ,Jerry Cantrell, has officially signed to Roadrunner Records, according to a label spokesperson. Cantrell brings to the table Degradation Trip, his second post-AIC solo project. The record, which took two years to complete, was recorded with trusted friends and musicians, Robert Trujillo (Suicidal Tendencies , Ozzy) and Mike Bordin (Faith No More, Ozzy) and was produced by Cantrell and Jeff Tomei (Smashing Pumpkins, Matchbox Twenty, Soul Asylum). Cantrell calls Degradation Trip, “one of the heaviest records I have put out, including Alice.” An official street date has yet to be announced, but Roadrunner is planning a summer 2002 release.

Cantrell met up with labelmates Nickelback last week in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada and performed the Alice In Chains classic, “It Ainít Like That” from 1990ís Facelift. On both nights Cantrell was met with deafening chants of “Jerry, Jerry” from the capacity crowd. The performance will be featured on Nickelbackís upcoming DVD release. Cantrell will also appear at Stubbís BBQ in Austin, TX on 3/16 as part of this year’s SXSW to preview material from the forthcoming album.
