Johnny Marr Looks To The Healers For Support

Ex-Smiths guitar legend Johnny Marr has started his first solo project, The Healers, and reports are streaming in that the group is close to inking a deal that will lead to a US release date. Rumored to be titled Play Dumb, the album features bassist Alonza Bevan (Kula Shaker), percussionist Liz Bonney, drummer Zac Starkey (Ringoís son), Adam Grey on second guitar and keyboardist Lee Spencer. Marr writes and sings all of the groupís songs. According to Pitchforkmedia.com, The Healers were well received by the British press after a number of support slot shows with Oasis. Johnny Marr also recently produced the debut album from UK quartet Haven. Entitled Between the Senses, the album is available via Radiate / Virgin in the UK. The single release for “Say Something,” off of Senses, was recently reviewed by theTripwire.com and can be seen in the Newly Discovered section.
