Velvet Underground Re-Issue Due In March

With the recent success of bands who have been labeled, “the next Velvet Underground ” it comes as no surprise that the groupís groundbreaking 1967 debut album, The Velvet Underground and Nico has been slated for re-issue. Set to drop on March 5th via Polydor, the deluxe two-CD set will feature the original stereo version of the album with an additional five songs added from Nicoís Chelsea Girl, recorded with The Velvet Underground as the singerís back up band. According to Rolling Stone, the second disc will contain a never before released mono mix of the album, as well as “Miss Joanie Lee,” a previously unreleased track recorded during a January 1966 rehearsal. The song is thought to be the Velvetís earliest recording as a band.
