The 2002 Brit Awards were held last night at Earlís Court in London and, suffice it to say, there werenít a whole lot of surprises. Cornerstone faves Travis kept it real by winning the Best British Album trophy and The Strokes deservedly received the Best International Newcomer accolades, while the Best British Dance Act went to Basement Jaxx. There were two double victors, the diminutive Australian sex princess, Kylie Minogue, who took the awards for the Best International Female Artist and Best International Album for Canít Get You Out of My Head, and the ubiquitous
Dido, who went home with the Brit Award for Best British Album (No Angel) and Best British Female. The only thing that could have been deemed a surprise, although a moderate one, is that Gorillaz, who were nominated a full 6 times failed to reach the gold medal position in any of their categories.
