Wilco On Board For New Minus 5 Album

Scott McCaughey, founder of the Minus 5, is currently in London mixing the ever-changing groupís fifth album. The new record, which is the follow-up to 2001ís Let the War Against Music Begin, has a working title of Down With Wilco. One might interpret that title as a hip-hop style “dis” on the roots rockers, but nothing would be farther from the truth. In fact, McCaughey recorded the album with Wilco earlier this year before doing overdubs with fellow Minus 5ers Ken Stringfellow (the Posies), Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Christy McWilson and Rebecca Gates. McCaughey actually has the utmost respect for Wilco. He told Rolling Stone, “Those guys are just too good. Iím trying to drag them down to my level.” Down With Wilco will be released this summer.
