Mudhoney To Drop New Record This Summer

Veteran Seattle rockers Mudhoney have recorded an album over the past few months at a number of different studios throughout the Starbucks loving city. According to Rolling Stone, the as-yet-untitled new album is set to hit the streets in late August on Sub Pop Records, who released the bandís greatest hits and outtakes album in 2000. Mudhoney replaced bassist Matt Lukin, who left the band a couple of years ago, with Guy Maddison, who collaborated with Mudhoney guitarist/vocalist Mark Arm on the latterís Bloodloss project. With a new bassist in tow, and a new outlook on the recording, Mudhoney decided to work on a couple of songs at a time at different studios, rather than recording the entire album at once. They worked with Seattle producers Martin Feveyear, Scott Colburn and Johnny Sangster at each of their respective studios, with the idea that it would be easier to keep focused. “Each studio and engineer has its own sound,” said Arm. “I think it makes things more interesting. It’s not like we’re all over the map stylistically. It’s still us. It’s still rock & roll. It’s not like we’re going to take a stab at reggae, and do a little techno number, and see which one radio picks up.” Mudhoney will keep up a small tour schedule as they prepare for their new release.
